In a statement, the Saudi Fund for Development said that "in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God protect them, His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Fund for Development, Mr. Ahmed bin Aqeel Al-Khatib, signed today in the Republic of Turkey an agreement to deposit $5 billion with the Central Bank of Turkey. The agreement was signed on the Turkish side by His Excellency Dr. Şahab Kavcıoğlu, Governor of the Central Bank of Turkey."
The statement added: "This deposit is an extension of the historical relations and close cooperation that exist between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Turkey and its brotherly people."
