Entry visa to Turkey

All foreigners who wish to enter the Turkish territory must obtain an entry visa to Turkey, by directly reviewing the representatives of Turkey in their country, or obtaining an electronic visa through the website:

www.evize.gov.tr

It depends on the country they belong to. If coming to Turkey is for a special purpose such as education or study, a special visa must be obtained for this matter from Turkey's representatives abroad.

How to enter Turkish territory

Entry into and exit from Turkey through the border gates is done by presenting a passport or a document to replace it.

Document Verification

  • The foreigner is obliged to present the passport or any document to the checking staff, upon entering or exiting the border gates of Turkey.
  • The process of checking transit documents can be carried out at the border, and on cars, while they are on the move.
  • Foreigners in the transit areas of the airport may be subject to an audit of their documents, by the responsible personnel.
  • When a foreigner enters Turkey; It is verified that the person is covered by the provisions of Article 7 of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458.

They are:

  • Persons who do not possess a passport or a document on its behalf, or who do not have an entry visa, an exemption from an entry visa or a work permit, or people who are proven to have forged these documents.
  • Persons who do not possess a passport that is valid for not less than 60 days from the date of expiry of the entry visa, visa exemption or residence permit.
  • Persons are prohibited from entering Turkey.
  • Persons are suspended to verify their comprehensiveness with the provisions of the said article for a maximum of four hours.

 

 

Who are the people prohibited from entering Turkey?

  1. Persons who do not possess a passport or a document on its behalf, or who do not have an entry visa, an exemption from an entry visa or a work permit, or people who are proven to have forged these documents.
  2. Persons for whom the validity of the passport, or its representative, is less than 60 days after the expiry of the entry visa, visa exemption or residence permit.

 

The following categories are prohibited from entering Turkey:

  1. Foreigners whose passport, or its representative, is valid for less than 60 days from the duration of the required entry visa.
  2. Foreigners are prohibited from entering Turkey.
  3. Foreigners who he considers to be a threat to order or public security in Turkey.
  4. Foreigners who carry a disease that can threaten public health in Turkey.
  5. Accused or judicially convicted persons whom the Republic of Turkey pledged to return to their countries, according to agreements with other countries.
  6. Foreigners who do not have health insurance, including the period they will stay in Turkey.
  7. Persons who do not have valid reasons for entering, moving to, or residing in Turkey.
  8. For foreigners who do not have a financial source, their livelihood is sufficient for the period during which they will stay in Turkey.
  9. Foreigners who are prosecuted because of a legal debt in Turkey fall within the debts that prevent entry, refuse to pay it, or who do not accept fines, overstaying in Turkey.

 

These categories are prevented with reservations to those covered by the second paragraph of Article 15 of the Law of Foreigners and State Protection (which provides for the exception of those denied entries, if it is determined that their entry is necessary, and this is done with the evaluation of the Ministry of the Interior).

International protection in Turkey

It is not possible to apply the conditions that allow foreigners to enter or leave Turkey or to reside in it in a way that prevents the application of international protection for any foreigner.

Concerning preventing entry to Turkey:

  • The General Directorate of Immigration can prevent foreigners whose entry poses a threat to public security, public order or public health from entering Turkey, after referring to the relevant public departments and institutions.
  • The decision to prevent foreigners who have been deported from entering Turkey is issued by the General Directorate of Immigration or by the state leadership.
  • The maximum period for preventing entry to Turkey is five years, but in the event of a real threat to public order or public security, it can be extended for a maximum of ten additional years, by a decision of the General Directorate of Immigration.
  • For foreigners whose, visa or residency period has expired, and then submitted to the state leadership with a request to leave Turkey, before the expiry of the period was revealed by the concerned authorities, the decision to prevent entry to Turkey issued against them cannot exceed one year.
  • According to Article 56 of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458, the decision to prevent entry into Turkey is not issued against foreigners who have been asked to leave Turkey, and who left within the period specified for them.
  • The General Directorate of Immigration can cancel the entry ban into Turkey, and it can grant the foreigner who has been denied entry permission to enter for a specified period while retaining the ban decision.
  • Approval for foreigners to enter Turkey is conditional on prior approval from the General Directorate, and for reasons of public order and security.
